Conny Groenewegen graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy (Rotterdam) in 1996 in the field of autonomous arts. Since 2006 she has been showing women’s fashion collections under her own name, as CG. Renowned for her innovative knitting techniques, Groenewegen has a number of national and international sales outlets, for example in Japan. For the upcoming Fall/Winter ’09 season, she will be showcasing her new “Eclipse” collection. Eclipses have always been symbols of change and evolution, dating back to ancient times and civilizations.
‘Eclipse’ (F/W ’09) reflects Groenewegen’s search for a strong identity as a fashion designer.
In this, the collection is her point of arrival as well as her point of departure. “In this collection the emphasis lies on the silhouette. I have taken on several challenges. Black, a color I normally hardly ever use, was the starting point. This is my most powerful collection so far.” The well balanced use of color, techniques and materials gives ‘Eclipse’ (F/W 2009) its energy and strength.
